Beato Goes to Japan: Book Review
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2019
Format: Kindle Edition
” I love this book series in which Beato (the cat) has cute little adventures all over the world. In this book, he gets to go to Japan! I love the art style which is similar to modern anime. During his travels, he gets to experience Japanese culture firsthand. He learns about several key components of Japanese culture including the visual arts, culinary arts, capsule hotels calligraphy, and sumo among other things. Over the course of 30 beautiful pages with vivid kid-friendly digital illustrations Beato and his native-Japanese guide, a young girl named Kazumi get to go to see gardens, schools, restaurants, and even a temple! “
” As an elementary school teacher, I know that my students will be captivated by the brightly colored pictures and be kept entertained for the duration of this story during read-aloud time. They have already asked for it to be reread to them a few times since we got it. I love how the story is not only entertaining but also informative and accurate from an educational standpoint. I paired this book with our unit study of Japan this year. I am sure that even outside of the classroom that parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents will love the adventures of Beato the cat to share with any curious children in their lives.
I am excited about this series and I am looking forward to finding Beato’s other books, adding them to my classroom library, and sharing the rest of his travel adventures with my class.
You won’t regret adding this book to your library! I am sure that it’ll instantly become one of your child’s favorite reads! “
